Moto Guzzi V700, V7 Special, Ambassador, 850 GT, 850 GT California, Eldorado, 850 California Police Sirens

While Moto Guzzi made frames with siren mounts for use by police departments, Moto Guzzi did not make sirens. Instead, individual police departments mounted a variety of sirens as per their department preferences. Some departments used electric sirens while others used mechanical sirens.

Siren bracket

Updated: 2012 Jun 10

The siren bracket welded to the frame of some police frames appears as in the photos below. The bracket is made of steel, ~5 mm thick with a 14 mm diameter hole. Should you wish to add a siren bracket to your frame, please use the pattern I created below by tracing the outline of an original bracket.

The length of the side for the cable mount is ~20 mm . The cable mount is 20 mm long with a 16 mm diameter. The slot is 3 mm wide. The cable mount is threaded to accept a 9 mm × 1.25 mm cable adjuster (same as is used for the front brake cable, etc).

When a level is aligned along the rear side of...
When a level is aligned along the rear side of the siren bracket, it is mounted at an angle of 30°. Please note that this police frame does not have a side stand bracket mounted to the left lower frame rail. A side stand bracket - with the bare frame sitting on the floor - would alter the orientation of the frame and that would change the observed angle of the siren bracket.

  • I traced the outline of the steel bracket onto a piece of paper. Please reference the file below along with the photos as you digest these details.
  • Overall length is 33 mm (this is the length of the main body, from outside the bends)
  • Overall width is 15 mm (this is the width of the metal used to make the bracket)
  • Length of the arm with the hole in it is 18 mm (from outside the bend)
  • The diameter of the hole in the arm is 4.4 mm
  • Length of the arm with the slot in it is 16.2 mm (from outside the bend)
  • The width of the slot is 1.9 mm . It looks to me like they drilled a hole, then cut a slot down to meet that hole.

    Chrome plated steel. Marked with CiTe, a brand name, I believe.
  • Fulcrum, siren lever ( MG# 40603700 )
    Cast of bronze or brass. Sized to fit 22 mm handlebars. Marked with CiTe, a brand name, I believe.
  • Screw, lever to fulcrum ( MG# 45604900 )
    A steel shoulder screw with the following dimensions: 6 mm × 1 mm × 20 mm (includes a 10 mm shoulder)
  • Washer, lever screw ( MG# 45605000 )
    A steel spring locking washer with the following dimensions: 6 mm
  • Nut, lever screw ( MG# 45605100 )
    A steel nut with the following dimensions: 6 mm × 1 mm
  • Screw, fulcrum to handlebar ( MG# 45606300 )
    A fully threaded, slotted, cheese head machine screw with the following dimensions: 5 mm × 0.8 mm × 25 mm
  • Bushing, fulcrum to handlebar screw ( MG# 45605300 )
    A steel tube with the following dimensions: 5 mm inside diameter, 9 mm outside diameter, 10 mm length
    My photos don't show it very well, but the screw pulls this tube into the handlebar, thus locking the lever in place and preventing it from rotating. You'll note in some photos that you can see a hole on the inside of the lever...this tube extends into that area.
