O-rings O-ring material

O-rings are available in many other materials than the two listed below. But, Buna-N and Viton will suffice very nicely in the vast majority of motorcycle applications.

Buna-N

Buna-N has good oil resistance and has been used for years in the automotive world. Buna-N is inexpensive and readily available. Buna-N O-rings with a Shore Durometer (A Scale) = 70 generally work very well in motorcycle applications.

Viton

Viton has superior oil and chemical resistance to Buna-N. But, it is more expensive and not as widely available. Viton O-rings with a Shore Durometer (A Scale) = 70 generally work very well in motorcycle applications.
