Someone is gonna make the product specifically for the fella who cares about nothing except the price. It just happened to be CS that hose the niche in bike tires. Now the CS tires are perfectly well suited for some folks riding(pedaling) style. high performance they are not. And I really hate having a tire that I can outride under me. seen it happen with S shod bikes and even ME77 wearing bikes. knew this one fella. wanted to get the most mileage for his buck. told the tire guy that. Got the ME77s. sold the bike to another fella. a few months later, he launched the bike into some bushes trying to make a corner behind the rest of us. done it before on a similar bike. I rode the me77 bike later (fortunately the bike only got a minor dent) and those me77 tires were nasty. get them to the edge of their performance envelope and they give up, completely, no warning, goodbye. I returned the bike, changed my pants, and we went looking for a new set of tires. granted, things may have changed and the 77 now may not be the 77 of then. I have Avon RRs on my /5 cafe racer and they are beautiful. they grip well in the cold and wet. And when they do give, it is gradually. So you get a warning. by the time they start warning me I am already pushing the bike and my limits anyhow. Now the loopframes, as typically set up, arent corner carving racers. I know I won't be lookiing for that fun on mine. I'll probably go with a trusty ME88. decent center tread life, holds well enough on the sides to handle backroads. Served well on the T-3 police bike. But no CS for me. I'll eat ramen for lunch for a couple weeks and save up for the metzlers. BUT! that is only my opinion. one of the things I like about bike folks is we tend to have a higher sense of personal responsibilty. Your choice is your choice.
