hi guys-
well, i spent until 1:30 a.m. wrenching Patience apart and back together
yesterday, after a 120 mi. rescue mission thru the falling snow [more on
that in a minute]. sure enough, the new rear main seal was leaking! can't
explain it. replaced it, got her together again, and this afternoon i lit
the fire. no leaks! :>) however, even with the new venturii's, the slugish
throttle response remains. i then took the carbs apart, cleaned 'em [the
left one had alot of crap in it, and the right one had a short metal rod
laying in the bowl [???] no- it wasn't the float-rod! varooom, varooom.
crap. drain the carbs, replace those big jets with stockers from a dead
eldo. ahhhhhhhh! better! supposidly it's gonna be near 50* tues., so some
road time!
last sun., to get away from the ungrateful, oil leaking wench, i walked
out of the barn and stood there having a smoke. there was a faint sound
coming from the east. a sigh, sadness, wistfullness in the wind. strange.
so, checking the email later in the week revealed that yes, the guy over by
ithaca, n.y. would indeed drop his price [ a lot!] on his '70 ambo.- hence,
the rescue mission!
up thru those big hills and small towns to the township [6 houses] of
Caroline, and out in the boonies [greasy,, muddy goat path] and there she
was! 1 HUGE box full of stuff, a frame, a couple of wheels. painted the same
neat-o white with black, and a little red as Charlie's ambo. all there. all
origional. wow. Caroline. good name for an ambo. yabadaba-dooo!!!!!!!
