These instructions are specific to the replacement tail light sub-harness that I sell. Please do not cut wires unless you have replacement components.

  1. Replacement is much easier if the tail light is removed from the tail light bracket.
  2. Please note the location of each wire color (yellow and black).

On some tail lights, the black wire will be routed through the left hole in the bulb socket and the yellow wire will be routed through the right hole in the bulb socket (left and right as when seated properly astride the motorcycle). On other tail lights, it will be exactly opposite. It is best to replicate the original wire location; replacing each wire, one at a time.

  3. Cut the existing black wire and remove it from the taillight, complete with the original spring. Keep these tiny components in a safe and labeled location.
  4. Route the new black wire (with replacement spring) through the hole.
  5. Slide the insulating sheath onto the black wire.
  6. Crimp the new 4 mm female bullet terminal in place.
  7. Cut the existing yellow wire and remove it from the taillight, complete with the original spring. Keep these tiny components in a safe and labeled location.
  8. Route the new yellow wire (with replacement spring) through the hole.
  9. Slide the insulating sheath onto the yellow wire.
  10. Crimp the new 4 mm female bullet terminal in place.
