Thanks to Graham Hinton for sending me this information via email. In Graham's own words:

I found your page on rebuilding Bosch starter motors very useful, but then I found that my V50-III motor was slightly different.

My motor differs by one digit from the one you show: 0001157016 instead of 0001157006.

The difference appears to be that the brush motor tails are welded to the brush plate and crimped then plastic coated to the field coils. Consequently these cannot be replaced, yet most Guzzi spares dealers will happily sell you a set of four totally useless brushes.

Hope this information can help others.
