O.K., I never said I was a mechanic. Thanks to all for your advice on
my Eldo cutting out. Now, after checking the points, distributor cap,
etc. I can't get it to run. When I give it throttle or choke, it seems
to turn over more slowly. I did notice the hold down bolt for the
distributor was loose, and allowed the cap to rotate, which I assume
threw off my timing while I was adjusting/checking the points. Now, I
don't know the best way to get the timing close enough to run so that I
can set the timing. Where is my starting point? Also, when I turn the
motor over, I notice the distributor cap is rocking from side to side.
Is this normal, or is the cap not on correctly somehow. I noticed the
notch in the housing that corresponds to the tab in the cap, but wonder
if I could have this off another way.

Luckily, it is only about 98 degrees in my garage today so I am anxious
to get back at it!
