Any ideas on a good tool to use to remove the nuts on the Eldo exhaust
header pipes?

I use a Vise Grip with the chain jaws. A little tricky to set up but plenty of
torque to tighten it down.

Remember, you don't want to reef on them too hard. That's just aluminum you
are tightening a brass nut onto. Both are soft metal and will strip if you try
and torque them down too hard. You want tighten them down enough to crush the
copper seal washer (you are using one, right?) and make sure to loosen any
bolts that attach the header pipe to the muffler or frame. Once you get the
header pipe tightened down, then go back and tighten down the rest of the
exhaust system bolts.

Safety wire is a good idea. I ruined the threads on a head a couple years ago
from letting the nut come loose and vibrate around in that aluminum thread.
They can be repaired. I sent mine to Dave Richardson at Moto International and
I believe it cost $150 to have the old threads machined out and a threaded
insert welded in.
They send them out to a machine shop in Seattle that does them all the time and
as far as I'm concerned, they do excellent work.

Cheers,
