Did this on a HD many years ago when directional tires were just coming
about.....called Avon direct and the guy told me off record that it wouldn't
hurt anything.......

-I have been down this road to the end. I did this- ran Dunlop's K177
WW120/90-18 - an OEM front tire for the Honda shadow ace- on the rear. I ran
it with the arrow pointing in the oposite direction of rotation because
front tires have the forces applied in the oposite direction than the
rear(braking vs acceleration)
I wore it out and had no problems, good traction - fine handling, no
complaint. I wrote Dunlop to tell them what I was doing, told them it was
on an old eldo not a sport bike ETC.. They wrote me back sternly warning me
that tires are built for specific purposes and not to do it. Hateing being
told what not to do, I did it anyway. with no ill consequences. I figured
they were just covering there ass. when I wore it out (5500 miles)
and went to a place that only does motorcycle tires and wheel lacing to
get a new one, they acted like I was
nuts. they didnt like the idea one bit. at that time I got hold of a 16
inch alloy rim and had it mounted with Dunlops 130/90 -16 wide white. the
little nagging voice that used to raise its head and tell me that the tire
might destruct whenever I was going over 65 is now history. The bottom line?
I was prepared to do it again when the 16 inch option came up, but that
little voice was always there. If you deside to run the Dunlop backward,
just dont read this post and you can aviod the little voice. ignorance is
bliss. :)
