Most of you have heard the story of my Ambo problems,
and how it ran much batter after some distributor
cleaning and resetting the point gap. It ran good
enough to ride home from my friends, where it had been
stranded, but not good enough to take anywhere.
Several suggested that the condenser could be the
culprit, even though it was only a year old and only
had 8k on it. Taking someone's advice, I went to Pep
Boys and got a similar-looking 12 volt condenser for
$2.50, screwed it in, and SHE RUNS 100%! It took a lot
of work to figure out, but it was an inexpensive cure
in the end. I wanted to clean the carbs and replace
the plug wires anyway. Now I also have the reassurance
that my coil is fine and my fuel filters are clean.

Thanks for all the advice.

-Mike (69 Ambo)

BTW, my 1999 catalogue from Moto International lists
stainless headers for $90/each.
