Hi Doni,

I would check your battery to see if it is holding a charge. If your =
battery was dead I would think that it would take a while for the =
generator to charge it to full.

As for the dyno light coming on at idle...that's not such a bad thing if =
it is on only at idle. My bike does it and I have not suffered any =
problems with losing a charge or sucking the life out of the battery. =
It's the nature of generators. Of course, I am not sitting at idle for =
very long and if I am at a long light I might rev the engine slightly =
just to get the light out.

By the way. You didn't happen to put a metal generator cover (made for =
the Marellis) over a bosch generator did you? If you do that it will =
short out your voltage regualtor.

Where are you located? If it's a nice area I'll come and visit you and =
spend all day working on your bike. Of course you will have to splurge =
for the ticket :-)

There are no dumb questions. Ask away.....this is what the list is for.

Ian

Well, I hope you guys don't mind more dumb questions from me. My =
mechanical experience is very little and this is my first moto. My one =
friend with moto experience is out of the country, so, I'm gonna keep =
asking a bunch of dumb questions. Okay, I managed to get my bike jump =
started. I let it run for about fifteen minutes and then took off. My =
parking lot has speed bumps and going over one in second gear, it popped =
back into neutral. This has happened before. Then the engine died. =
When I tried to start it back up, nothing, no juice. I had to bring my =
car around and jump it again. So, how long should I have to let it run =
before the battery charges back up? Also, I'm still trying to get my =
idle adjusted properly. When I had it at idle, it sounded like it was =
idling too high. When I turn the idle screws out a little it gets to =
what sounds like a good speed, but then the dynamo light comes on. =20
Any advice on any of these issues would be appreciated. Sorry for =
the dumb questions. This is the bike I'm gonna learn on. I wish in the =
meantime I could find a mechanic who worked on Guzzis. I actually found =
a guy who works on BMWs now, but he used to work exclusively on =
loopframes, so he knows his stuff. He said he's too busy as it is for =
new customers, but to keep checking back with him. Oh well. Thanks =
again.
Doni
