The generator systems on the Ambo/Eldo models do not have enough power
to charge the battery at Idle (around 800 rpm). That is why your gen
light comes on. This is normal. At Idle the ignition system, lights,
and everything else is being aided by your battery because the generator
is not spinning fast enough to run them alone. If you have a bad
battery your bike will probably idle rough or die at idle, depending on
how many lights you have on and what accesories you may have wired up.
For a replacement battey try a lawn equipment supply shop. Take the top
battery bracket with you so you can get a size to fit. Also try and get
a battery with the greatest amount of cranking amps.

I have a 74 police eldo and it has the orginal spot lights and front and
rear pursuit ligts. I modified my battery tray to take a battery out of
a late model Camero. I had to custom make a top mount and modify the
battery tray but I now have a 700 amp battery which is nice if I am out
on a trip and my charging system goes bad. good luck
