Hi Ted,

Nice to meet ya :-) Too bad we each live on the other side of the country.
It would be great to meet up with a fellow Ambo rider. Not many out here in
the Montreal area.

Sounds like the numbers on your bike are right. The 13xxx bikes were made
Jan thru July 1969. The 16xxx bikes were made around July 1970. So yours
appears to fall right in place.

I think the difference between the civ and the police were a few more
cosmetic accessories. Police had floorboards and different bars. Engines
were the same I believe. As far as I know there was no denotion of the two
models in the serial numbers.

Where abouts in Vancouver do you live? I have a sister that lives in the
Kitslano area.

Regards...Ian

 Hi Ian:

The name is Ted Walton and I live out west, Vancouver British Columbia
Canada ,
and Hi to all you fellow Loopers!!I ride a Ambo 1970 , it's all stock and
love
riding it. The build date is Nov. 1969 Ser. # 14278. These numbers are
stamped
on a riveted tag on the steering head and stamped also on the engine case.
Is
this correct? Also how do you tell if it's a civilian from a police model?
Thanks for all the input that you long time Guzzi owners provide for us
newer
Guzzi owners. it's very much appreciated. Ted
