Hi All,

Well I finally got off my butt and took my #2 Ambo (1970) out for her first
run around town. Rode about 15 miles and the bike ran quite well. I had my
friend riding along beside me. He said that the bike ran nice and straight
and he didn't notice any smoke coming out of the mufflers.

One thing that is bugging me is that the bike tends to hesitate on
acceleration. No backfiring or sputtering...just seems like the engine is
bogging down a little bit. But in neutral the engine revs well when I blip
the throttle. However, once the bike gets going it accelerates well. Any
thoughts as to what might be causing this? Timing? Dirty carbs? I am
thinking that there might be a little gunk in the carbs so I will likely
give them a look see (something I hate to do when they are all together and
leak free).

So far I have about 2 hours on the new engine (cylinders, pistons, rings,
bearings) so I am hoping that the engine is just still a little tight.

Another thing is that the tranny is really nice and tight with much less
"clunking" compared to my 69 Ambo's tranny. There still is that familiar
4th gear whine though :-) One little thing is the tranny will slip out of
first gear as I just start to engage the clutch. Anyone ever had this? It
only does it as I start out and when I am on the road and hit a stop sign
and gear down into first I don't have the problem. I guess the movement of
the bike allows the gears to mesh better. Anyways.....something to get use
to...like the false neautral light :-)

Thanks for any thoughts and I look forward to showing off my new girl in the
future :-)
