Vince-
Use the Bosch "Blue Coil" for a VW. $27.00 or so...readily available...and
the correct 5 ohms for an Eldo! I ordered one from JBugs and it bolted
right up! As for wires, I like the 8mm silicone ones cos they are available
in cool colors as well as carrying a bit more spark (I got mine from
Cometition Accessories). You have to cut them to length tho' and they are a
wee bit big for the coil...makes for an extremely tight fit...but they look
COOL! Any auto or bike shop should have these. Also (I don't know why),
the books I have seen stress using 5 ohm resistor ends (NGK is what I got)
on the plug end of the wires. Maybe someone else can shed some light on
that.

Also, a VW Type III generator is an exact replacement for the stock bosch
unit...puts out 40 amps too instead of the stock 25...never have a dead
battery again!

Hello everybody,
I am trying to upgrade my ignition system on my 73 Eldo. I want to keep
the points setup because of simplicity, so I am going to change the coil
for a better spark. I am thinking of getting a Bosch gt 40 coil(is their
a better coil? ), does anyone have the part number for this coil? It
should be stamped on the coil. I contacted Bosch and they need the
number or the application it was used for. Does anyone make a custom set
of spark plug wires for the Eldo? I want to say thanks in advance! I'm
glad that their is a place for loopframe lovers to get together and help
to keep these bikes running.
Take care.
Vince
