I recently went through the same ordeal. You can use an adjustable spanner
wrench sold by Proto tools available at some auto parts stores. You can
check with Harbour Freight, Northern Tools, plumbing shop, etc for an
adjustable spanner wrench or C- spanner. I bought mine at harbout freight
for less than 15.00 and it worked fine.
