Try to obtain a small sheet of viton rubber and make your own. It can be
had from McMaster-Carr I believe. www.mcmaster.com

First it (my ambassador's gas cap, the lever on top kind) was not
venting properly and would start stalling after a while until I took the
cap
apart and cleaned out the vent holes. Now if I fill it up even close to the
top of the tank it leaks onto the tank while splashing around and takes the
wax off with it. I noticed that the rubber gasket was not in that great of
shape while cleaning the vent holes. Has anyone made new ones of these? I
can get a sheet of rubber gasket material from my local hardware store and
cut out a new one but don't know how it will hold up to the gas. Any tips
or
suggestions from the group?
Thanks,
