I had my Wixom bags sanded and painted by a hot rod shop. I striped off the
lock and Aluminum seam cover, as well as the hinge from the parts and gave
them to the painter bare. they sanded them smooth (they were "pebble finish"
) and painted them gloss black for 350.00, they look great, I then added an
eldorado badge from a caddy eldo and a set of very nice chrome tail lights by
Baron that are the same size as the trailer lights that came stock on the
Wixoms ( you can still get the same original tail lights at any NAPA auto
parts store) the Baron's look great. I polished the aluminum strips and
cleaned up the latch as best I could and put thm back on with new rivets.
they look better than they ever did new, i'll tell you that. the only thing I
wish I had was new latches, I geuss I could have had them rechromed but i
didnt. anjyway good luck you can make them show quality with a little cash
and a little work.
