I believe that may have been the late, great Gordon Jennings in Cycle
magazine. Probably did the test to find coils for the Ducati race bike
back then. My brother put a set of K-mart coils on his '75 RD350 (along
with the appropriate ballast resistor) and they made a marked
improvement. Unfortunately, they also helped lead to the demise of a
piston. Once fixed and rejetted the bike was back to former self until
one of them failed, probably due to vibration. You'd think that I would
have learned from that, but nooo... Cheers, all!

Hi Brad, I believe that a coil from a 69 VW bus will work. I
believe that there are two kinds, one with a 3 ohm internal
resistor and one without. Go with the one with the
resisitor. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. By the
way...there is a police speedo housing on the list. I'll
keep my eye out for one. Regards....Ian
