My Eldo once had a great destructive sound at certain rpm ranges. Turned out
to be a crack in the black plastic generator cover. Side of the road in Utah
I used big pliers to yank bits of it out. Quiet the rest of the trip.

Also, Ambos and Eldos are famous for cracking the generator yoke bracket if
you tighten the fan belt too much.

Quick, go out and pull off the fan belt and then go for a quick ride. Your
electrical system can handle a few miles without a charge. Not having a belt
should help to eliminate anything in that region as a vibration source.
