Thanks for the welcome. I've been sitting back and reading the exchanges.
Seems like many of you know each other quite well.
Here's a quick rundown
I'm 48. Live in PA. Near 3 Mile Island. Been riding for 4 years only. (
a crying shame. I've got a lot of time to make up) I like the HD cruiser
look but don't like the lifestyle crap and prices. Started with an 88
Shadow, 600 cc . Good starter but felt it was too small after 4 months.
Bought a 81 Gold Wing for the carrying capacity for camping, touring etc.
Reliable, big enough but no soul there at all.

I was looking for a bike with personality, and something I could connect
with by building up or at least by becoming familiar with its mechanical
functions. I almost bought a 77 HD shovelhead early in 2000. Deal fell
through luckily, and I kept looking.

I had my eye on the late model Californias. Never bought because I didn't
like the seat/foot position. Anyway, looking though the Guzzi web sites I
found Dr Dave's Loopframe site. Saw the Black Loopframe with the solo seat.
That was it. I knew what I wanted now. By the way, I liked that
reference to the bike shaking like an old Whirlpool ( I may be wrong on the
washing machine brand but I got the drift of the message)

I found a civilian Ambo 1971 in Walnecks. Rented a trailer and drove to
NC, Fayetteville area. Rode it in the guys development. Brought it home
in May.
It looks completely stock.
Its supposed to have a true 5K miles but the speedo broke and was replaced.
As near as I can trace its history, it was registered in PA from 72 until
1978. The guy I bought it from said he had it for a couple of years but
never titled it in NC. He bought it from a guy in Florida. How and when
it got from PA to FL I dont know.

Engine seems good.. I am going over the rest of it piece by piece. It
should be on the road this spring.
The time in Florida really chewed up the chrome and alloy parts. Most
chromed parts have been silverpainted. The rest is badly pitted.

I've been on the loopframes site since about Oct or November. Keith Ruff
turned me on to it. Its been very useful for tech tips
Look forward to meeting you guys.
