Rich,

I sounds like you have an air leak down stream from the carb. When you =
put the carb manifolds onto the head, did you use a sealant? If air is =
getting past the big fiber spacer, it will run like that, and putting on =
the choke will fix it, since you are richening the mixture.=20

Hi all,
Fist of all congrates on the Mother Load of parts Dave. I finally =
have the timing set by light, the spark gap and point gap right on, and =
the lifters adjusted .102mm in and .203mm out (as close as I could get =
to book specs). I have battery covers on her now, the dual seat =
re-covered, all the paint looking great. Need new mufflers and tool =
boxes. The problem the damn thing is poping like crazy, the carbs =
appear balanced (I only eyeballed them along with feeling them) the =
mixture adjust doesn't seem to help the bike run better (Oh yeh does not =
pop with choke on about mid way). Stratagy, replace points plugs and =
condenser, recheck timing. Theory that is not going to help because I =
have UNI filters and the packing is all blown outta the mufflers thus =
causing the bike to run lean, solution new Jets. But how much bigger =
and will it help the problem? I have rebuilt the carbs and soaked them =
3 times at least not to mention tearing them apart to look for trash in =
the bowl. I have done the old WD40 leak check and haven't found any air =
leaks. I am about stumped. I also just noticed a recent oil leak or =
possable heavy blow by havn't pen pointed it yet.

I also just found an unrestored 73 850 Ambo for $2000 it has 33K =
miles and has been garage kept and been maintained regularly, I have not =
cash but if aanyone is close the Ft Walton Beach Fl may get it cheap the =
guy needs cash.

See Ya,
Rick
