I've tried a lot of oils. 20w50 mobil 1 will crank a lot faster than
10w40 non-synthetic. The Eldo and T-3 both crank easy with 20w50
synthetic even at -20f.
The real test that made it obvious was kickstarting my SR500 last
winter. No way on a -15f day with 10w30 non-synthetic but would
kickstart fairly easy with the synthetic 20w50.
Spring, summer and fall I use the cheaper blends. Last year I rode 40k
and the year before over 50k. Changing oil about every 2k makes for an
oil change almost every two weeks. It can get costly.

Guys - I would like to hear from theRatguzzi in wisconsin - is it John -
on
what he is running for oil at the moment - I run my bikes seasonally -
10/40
now early spring ,latw fall - the rest of the time when t is warmer - i
use
20/50
it is all about heat and viscosity
that engine is going to crank harder in the cold with heavier oil
rich clegg
