IMHO If the oil has been in there for more than a couple of
years anything you put in it will be an improvement. Mine was black and low
when I changed it. My survey turned up responses from 10WT fork oil to 90WT
gear oil. In the end I took the recommendation of two Guzzi mechanics and
went with ATF. I can say the forks feel a little smoother if nothing else.
Tech tip, think about acquiring new drain plug washers and the o-rings for
the fork caps before proceeding.

Miguel,
I asked that question some weeks ago and the general summary replies
was
that the oil weight is not that critical but that heavy weight stuff
like 50
works fine. People replied with ATF fluid, 40 and 50 w motor oils.
The
oil is mainly a lubricant with some minor damping action. These
forks are
pretty low tech. I put in some 20-50 that I had. I haven't ridden
it yet.
Probably the main thing is to put in equal amounts of oil on each
side .
