<P>Hi Charles,</P>
<P>My 73.5 Eldo takes about 20 minutes of riding time before my valve(s) become noisy. The mystery sound that I hear dosen't really sound the same as what I perceive as typical valve noise. My lifters always sound more noisy at 55 mph, especially on the left side. The mystery sound only takes place after the bike has warmed up and only at certain rpm's. No one can seem to figure out what it is, including vary reputable Guzzi repair technicians. The sound dosen't hinder the performance of the bike, it's just antagonizing. If you or anyone else on the list can give me some input, I would love to hear from you. 1-800-874-4216.</P>
<P>Thanks:</P>

<DIV></DIV>>Hi Richard,
<DIV></DIV>>I've noticed with my early '69 Ambassador that it takes a good 1/2 hour of
<DIV></DIV>>riding in cool weather before the engine warms up completely and the valves
<DIV></DIV>>quiet down. At least if you hear the valves tapping you know you've got
<DIV></DIV>>clearance (good), if you don't hear any noise they might be too tight and burn
<DIV></DIV>>(bad). :-) Too much clearance can eventually cause damage, but shouldn't cause
<DIV></DIV>>the bike to leave you stranded.
<DIV></DIV>>Cheers,
