Take the entire frame in. On an old bike don't risk doing damage by trying
to extract a tumbler. We did this on an old honda that has a similar key
blank and it was keyable. Remember, most bike key blanks are very simple,
at least they are very simple to a locksmith. The locksmith measures the
pins inside and cuts the blank accordingly. Shop around by phone and see
who is willing to do this. Lots of bike shops do this service. You can
bring the bike in and they just call a locksmith that does this kind of
work. Best, Bob Hawkes

Robert,

How did you take the tumbler out of the headset? Or did you bring the
entire frame over to the locksmith? Thanks, miguel

Hey Rich,
The blanks on my guzzi seems real simple. Have you tried going to a
locksmith with the tumbler and asking to have a key made? My friends
and I

have done that here and get charged about $12. Best, Bob Hawkes

Somewhere along it's life the key to the fork lock on my Ambassador
was lost or ? What would be the best route to take on getting a key
made

(anybody know what blank may fit?) or the whole lock replaced (are
they

available?) or should I just wait a couple years when the frame gets
powder-coated and deal with it then?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Rich
PS Front cover gasket replacement went well over the weekend. I did
have

 to
break out the neighbor's air impact wrench to remove and reinstall the
nut

on the end of the crank that holds the pulley flange but no biggie.
The

cover bolts I torqued to 7 ft lbs. Is this about right?
