I've been using those tires for a few years now. I mount the rear tire
opposite its indicated direction of rotation. Handling and stability are
just fine. Only problem is that being a "front" tire it has reduced tread
depth compared to a proper rear tire, and this limits its lifespan.

BTW, anyone know of any white-wall 17 inchers out there?

Tim,

I believe it has something do do with how the plys are laid out in the
tire...something like that.

I have always understood that the rear goes with the direction of rotation
and the front is reversed. I'm not sure how a "front" type tire should be
mounted on the rear.

Regards...Ian

Subject: Mounting Tires reversed

If I choose to purchase white wall tires for my Eldo, I have been
advised to mount the rear tire reversed. If the rotation is the same,
why is this done? I know I will be purchasing two front tires, but
would like to know what difference the reverse mounting makes.

Anyone?

Thanks,
Tim
