Hi Bruce, the neutral switch should be a snug fit, but not unbearable. I can usually get them out by hand, after removing the bolts I grab the wide ends of the housing and rotate it a little back and forth(clockwise and counterclockwise), then it's loosened and should come right out.If you need to use vise grips, first put the little nut on the stud and grab it, so as to spare your threads. You can always replace the nut if you want. You should only have to remove the switch once if you...A;replace gasket and use gasket sealer. If you made a gasket out of thicker material, you're on the right track.B: when adjusting the tab, use a continuity test light, this way you can get it right quickly and eliminate neutral light/wiring errors. C: don't overtighten the two 6mm bolts, this will distort the housing causing the leak again. Steve Seftel

Should it be an ordeal to remove the plastic Neutral switch housing
from the block? I have to use ViseGrips to remove mine and every time I
do, it gets a bit chewed up. I removed/installed it many a time in a
vain attempt to get my neutral switch to be accurate, and to stop a
weeping oil leak (successful with a new homemade gasket).
