Unfortunately the 4 speed is exactly what I want. I'm trying to avoid
pulling out the motor and tranny to replace the back plate. I'll do the
update eventually. I'm just so damn far along, I want to avoid the hassle.
I have looked about for a different bearing (needle or spherical roller type
throwout) but It sounds like smarter folks have done that already and come
up dry.
