Keith-
The simplest, most visible, and effective lock I've seen lately is one that
MAW and others sell, that clamps over the throttle and front brake or the
clutch side. Doesn't totally imobilise the bike, but seems like it would
work well anyway. The other option is use a piece of thick coated cable
(bright orange if possible) and a case hardened (very important...bolt
cutters will NOT cut these) padlock to attach the front wheel to the frame.
This will totally immobilise the bike, but one runs the risk of trying to
take off without removing it, causing terrible wheel and ego damage. If ya
have a disc front end, a disc lock works, but has the same disadvantages as
a cable. I noticed a Guzzi dealer selling tags to put on the handlebars to
remind people to remove their disc lock before riding so I guess that is a
fairly common problem.
I think the clutch/brake lever lock would be the best. Leave the bike in
gear and putting it over the clutch would work well, without the risk of
messing up the front wheel.

Greetings,

Searched through the archives for this topic, found some stuff but never
a resolution. I do not have a key to my fork lock, but would like to
get it working if it doesn't require major effort. What can I do to get
a key to fit and work in this lock? Or should I not bother? What type
of lock do y'all use if I don't use the steering lock? Would like to
drive the Ambo to work, but don't want to leave her unprotected.

Thanx,
