I think the chrome panels need to stay. I believe the chrome panels on the
tank are like a signature on a fine piece of art. Maybe as an option,
you could use some of the chrome tape that is currently available to cover
the panels to give them a fresher look. You can get large enough pieces
of this stuff from a auto paint supplier that also carries pin stripping
tapes. Ive seen this chrome tape used on everything from helmets to
top fuel dragsters. You can probably even clear coat over it for added
protection and enhanced look. If anyone has tried tis approach, I would be
curious to see how it turned out for them.
