okay dokay Dave. I suspected as much, but wanted some expereinced heads to
respond before I go bashing the tranny into my newly painted frame.

Next weekend should be the operational test.

Next question...

has anyone made a substitute tool for holding the flywheel while you unbolt
it?

On Beemers we would undo a couple bolts, substitute two longer bolts with
nuts to hold the clutch down, hang a box wrench over the new bolt and a stud
on the bell housing to hold the fly wheel/clutch in place while undoing the
rest of the bolts. then use the nuts on the new bolts to slosly let the
pressure off the diaphragm spring. Then the bolt would go back into the fly
wheel to be held steady with the box wrench as before while the flywheel
bols were undone.

Change that Nope Nope Nope to yup yup yup!
Remove the rear wheel, swing arm, and whatever else is in your way, remove
the rear motor mount bolt, unbolt and wiggle it out it ain't fun but it
works, I would not not not lie to ya!

Really? I've been told "Nope. It won't. Nope nope nope."

The only pic I have seen of a Guzz loop (eldorado) without its tranny was
Roy Harvey's and you may as well have removed the motor. The lump was off
the from mounts and everything.

What techniques do you use?

Another topic:
Does anyone living near seattle have a spare Ambo large speedo I can borrow
or rent? Mine went south and I need to have the bike inspected by the state
patrol. SO I gotta have a working speedo with idiot lights.

All else fails, I'll buy a working one....Eric you still have that one?

Grand weekend.
I only got one day of riding in this weekend. (riding the lawnmower
around
doesn't count)But I had a great time. Saturday was all yard work followed
by
big fat pork chops on the grill, ice cold beer and wandering around the
yard
with my son poking at plants, chasing bugs and frogs.

Sunday I went riding. I got a late start. And the solenoid on the starter
was having an off day. SOmetimes, it will click, but the starter won't
crank. I'm guessing the solenoid doesn't pull back far enough to tripp
the
starter motor. But after three tries it caught and away we went. I
stopped
to fill up with gas and headed off thataway.

We just moved into this county. Previously I had only passed through this
county on my way somewhere else. Now that I live in it..I gotta explore
it.
So I took my map and went wanderin. The sun was shining, but it was a
cool
enough 70 degrees. Just right. The bike ran great, we noodled up and down
hill and dale. found a couple places where I had to realy haul the bike
over, but mostly the twists and turns just had the heavy old beast
swinging
like a pendulum underneath me as we chundered along. I stopped by a creek
and ate my snack and guzzled my gatorade. Didn't really need to stop, but
it
looked like a nice place to stop. A couple locals stopped to make sure I
didn't need any help and to jawbone a bit.

Too soon I had to think about edging my way toward home as dinner was in
a
 couple hours.

On the way I stopped by Gary WHite's place. He still wasn't around. A
fellow
that was there said he'd be back in a couple days.

The I stopped in snohomish to have a beer before I went the last 5 miles
home. a dozen people must have poked a head inside the bar to ask what
the
 hell that thing is.

There was only one detractor. Some wheezer shook hi head and said I
should
have taken the time to do it right. I just laughed and said "I don't
recall
seeing your $#@!!ing name on the title."

I did meat one guy who has a buddy that has an Eldorado that he got a few
years ago at a garage sale. Supposedly he needs to off load it cheap. I
gave
him my number. I'm hoping. But not holding my breath.

Then I headed for home. There my boy was waiting on me in the driveway
and
my lovely wife had homemade enchiladas and good hot homemade salsa and
some
 ice cold beers.

Max looked up at me and said "Daddy that's your bike. You made it. It's
cool."

this is gonna be a good summer.

The only bummer is that I'm gonna have to tear into the old guzz. I have
a
leaking front main seal as well as a leaking rear main.

The front can be replaced with the motor in the bike. but the
rear....egad.
ANyone know if you can take the tranny out of the ambo without removing
the
 motor as well?
