 Hello John,

Good to see you on the board! I and my neighbor bought some of those
tank decals from ya several months ago, nice decals!
Thankyew, thankyew. Never had a dissatisfied customer. At $10 a set I
feel like I'm doing a community service. They also make great loopframe
helmet decals, someone out there was making clocks out of them, I've got
one on my fridge. By the way, I just did a small run of sidecover
decals for the non louvered sidecovers if anybody needs them. (End of
ad).

I would hope you are wrong on this since I just got the bike back a few
weeks ago from the Guzzi shop. They did a bunch of tranny work and were
supposed to also change out the main seal on the engine while they were
in there. I just changed the oil myself last week, is it possible I
overfilled it? I have one of those easy remove dip sticks, the mechanic
scored it for the high/low oil level readings. I have heard that
sometimes these bikes don't like to be filled to the top line with oil.
I hope I'm wrong for your sake. Given the fact that you just changed
the oil and suspect that you overfilled it coupled with the homemade
dipstick markings may be the good news. The easy cheap first step is to
drain the oil and replace with a measured correct amount.
It could also be that they messed up putting the seal in. Which
reminds me of a joke:
A penguin takes his bike into the shop, says that it's running funny
and making chuffing noises. The wrench says he'll have a look at it,
it'll take about an hour. The penguin says great, is there anywhere I
can get a fish sandwich around here? The wrench informs him about a
McDonald's around the corner and off he goes.
An hour later the penguin comes back to check on his bike, and the
wrench says "It looks like you blew a seal". The penguin wipes his beak
and says,"No, that's just mayonnaise."

I'm hoping thats what it is and that she doesn't have to go back to the
shop again. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out why my gen
warning light is on. Either the wiring is fudged up or the gen crapped
out. Most think its a wiring issue since the gen worked before the
engine/tranny was pulled out of the bike to fix the trans.
I'd guess wiring also. Make sure that your regulator is grounded
well. As memory serves the ground wire for the reg is on the far right
side of the reg, normally fastened to one of the toolbox bolts (with a
star washer) which is fastened to the battery tray which is fastened to
the engine/trans. A quick test is to put a jumper wire from the reg to
the engine (or the negative side of the battery), if the light goes out
you've found the problem. If it doesn't, go get another beer.

Good luck,

Smell the oil; you should be able to tell the difference between
engine oil and hypoid tranny oil. If it's engine oil, then my guess is
that it's the crankshaft seal on the flywheel side of your engine.
The good news is that you can check your clutch while you're in
there.

Good luck
