Hmm I didn't specify that this is a floorboard setup. The H/T shifter
doesn't have any splines. smooth pivot with a brass bushing, washer and
retainer bolt. the pivot seems to be worn so I am looking at (easiest) and
outside fix of soft washers (2 with a teflon washer in between?) or
bearings
OR (more difficult) having a thicker bushing machined.

Maybe this helps. The shifter shaft has a black plastic collar on the
opposite end from the splines. Cant tell if it acts as a bushing or as
a

 way to hold sideways position.
I dont have any position problem with it.

SO it seems the clutch is behaving now. I put about 100 miles on it
and

 then
re adjusted for the slack. seems okay now.

The floppy shifter is buggin me. I used new pins on the rods and
connectors
and front to back it is pretty good. but side to side, the heel toe
shifter
flops pretty bad. any bushings, washers, bearings I can put in there
to

 tighten it up?
