Hey Ed,
welcome. You just might end up spending more time in front of your
computer than riding now. I know I should be out there right now.
Can't say anything that hasn't been said.
Question though.. For those of you that run sportster mufflers, whats
the hookup? Reduces or something? How much of a pain in the ass is it to
fab all is needed compared to the final product.
Just curious, got a pair sitti' in the garage.

 HI Ed,
Welcome to the family. I had the same kind of questions last year when
I
dove into the Loopframe "lore" .
I'll try to give you a synopsis of what I learned/ read etc from the
list.
Chrome bores. The only sure way to tell is by a visual exam. But if it
runs fine leave it alone. The fact that your machine was run and not
sat is
a better situation for the chrome condition
Most or maybe even all loop guys run 20/50. Castrol, Mobil 1, etc have
been recommended,
The brand doesn't sound too critical. Just frequent changes, since
there
is no filter.
I have also heard various Harley and BMW Ural seats used with custom
mounting brackets needed.
( see a recent loop thread under (Ural Seats) )

Also you may want to join the MG owners group and as part of that you
can
get a MG Tips booklet, that has reprinted tips sent in to the
newsletter in
the mid 70's.
There are also a couple of complete descriptions about full tune ups and
various fixes people have tried. Also a pretty detailed section about
side
cars.
Also, we keep an unofficial list of Loop serial numbers. The number is
on a
plate on the neck of the bike just behind the headlight. Send it to Ian
Adkins.
Good Luck
Pete

Hi looplist. Glad I stumbled on to this site. I just bought a '73
Eldorado, my first Moto Guzzi. It has 67K miles and is all original
except paint. I don't think it ever sat for long periods according to
PO. It had a valve job at 29K. It runs/sounds great, but I am wondering
about the chrome cylinder bores, how do you tell if the chrome is good
without tearing it down? There are no obvious symptons so I'm guessing
the chrome is fine. I was told to use Castrol 20-50 oil, is that good
advice? I put some stock Harley Sportster mufflers on it, really has a
nice deep mellow sound, I love it. When it gets really warmed up in
town, sometimes when you come to a stoplight and pull the clutch in it
doesn't want to release, what is the problem there? And last but not
least, I want to put a solo seat on this bike, but I really don't care
for the Guzzi solo seats. I had a Mustang vintage solo seat on my 77
Harley FLH, it was a great seat, does anyone know of a similar seat to
fit my Eldo? Maybe the Harley police solo seat? I may buy a Harley seat

and modify the mounts to make it fit. Thanks in advance, Ed in Iowa.
