Another means of oil getting in there is thru the valve guides. I
hear-tell that the older guides are more prone to wear than the newer ones.

 Trying to figure out a cheap fix for the oil getting to the topside of the
LH piston.
Did a compression check yesterday, good news with both sides at 160 psi
(cold) so I am assuming that the chrome is not flaked off and that the oil
rings are the problem and are not expanding like they should.
Changed oil and added a pint of detergent additive hoping that will free up
the rings.
If this doesn't work, I'll have to do some surgery.
Anybody else have experience with stuck oil rings ?
