Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the cool resonses to this story. I'm happy to finally
have people to share my experiances with that understand. Kevin's been
riding around with that damn trophy all weekend like he just won the TT

 Pete,
That's a good response you gave to Kev's 1st place story. It is not
always
easy to be a Guzzi man, anyways here in Rochester, NY. The closest
Guzzi
guy around is Andy Hill and he's way over the next mountain. Helloooo
Andy!
My specific gravitational pull around here is not HD but BMW which all
my
friends ride. (Maybe I ought to get new friends.) Anyway, still a
Guzzi
man even though my bike still has gremlins to sort out. Bob Hawkes

Good Story Kev
Thanks for the writeup.

The Loopframe personality speaks for itself.

As far as those who think HD is the only brand, well......
in all things there are leaders, those who do stuff because its right
for
them, and there are followers, those who need to wait until its
popular

 and
safe to like or do something.

just feelin philosophical this hot afternoon.....

Well guys, went to "vintage" bike night last night. It's held every
last Wendsday of every month at a local bar. Nothing really vintage
about it. Mostly H-D, of course, Everything is newer, nothing special.
To give you an idea of this thing let me tell you that a buddy's shop
sponsered it one of the first times it was held. He won 1st place
vintage bike night with a 98 sportster, custom sure, still a 98
though.

So anyways my pal Kevin(74 Eldo) ride there. We pulled up and got
swarmmed. People gawking from in the bar as well as out of the bar. As
soon as we pull up we were surrounded. Pretty cool. even well after
the

initail shock to these people was well over we still had crowds
comming

to look at the bikes. The buzz in the bar was "the two old
Guzzi's...."

I was beside myself, I've had that bike for years and have had no
shortage of compliments, nods, interested buyers, ect. but never like
this, we felt like damn celebraties. This took me by surprise 'cause I
people in Detroit can't see past the bar and sheild of H-D. I was
expecting some response but not like that.
In the end Kevin and his Eldo took home first place. I felt like a
proud parent. One of the guys up there asked the judge why the Eldo
and

not the Ambo. I guess the judge said he regretted not being able to
give

1st to both bikes, and that next time the Ambo would walk with it, but
he had to go with the Eldo because of the blk. engine and pipes. The
Eldo beat out a 48 Indian that I thought was a shoe in, a 66 triumph,
those are the only ones worth mentioning here, oh besides mine! A
couple

people came up to me and said I should of won. Whatever man! I did win
last night. I have every bit of myself in that Eldo as Kevin does and
to

have my best friend walk away with 1st and to see the sense of pride
and

accomplishment in him beats any danm trophy.

Pavin' the way for Guuzi in Detroit
Kev
Detroit surprised me last night. I learned that people here can get
past the "Your not riding unless your on a...." attitude. Maybe there
is

hope for this town after all.
Kev
