Hi Bob,
Sounds like there is a lot of memories both good and bad surrounding the V700. I personally
could never sell any bike I'd had that long and had that many experiences with. Keep it
around as your own personal time machine or rolling monument to your late riding buddy.
That's the emotional side of it.

The rational side is that this bike long ago paid for itself. Any money you invest in this
bike will be money well spent. This list will help you to find any and every piece you will
need to do a restoration if that is the intention. If the V700 is still in good overall
shape, it might be better to leave the cosmetics alone and just freshen the mechanicals.
The patina of use is hard to replace. I refer to my '69 Ambassador as "not so ugly I'm
ashamed of it and not so pretty I'm afraid to use it." The desirability and value of this
bikes is on the way up, too. This list has shown that to be a fact - the list has nearly
doubled in just two months.

The big thing is this: they just aren't making any motorcycle nowadays that has anywhere
near the class and charisma of an old Loopframe. The Loops are the last Guzzis that were
directly influenced by the Master (Guzzi engineer Carcano) and I value this link with the
past. The design is so robust and simple, it seems to beg the question "why aren't all
motorcycles built like this?"

If you can't tell by now I love my old Loopframes and can't see a day when that will
change. I've never had a bike that made me feel this way before. I hope you decide to fix
your V700 up and become one of the Loopframe faithful (fanatics?), but if you decide to
sell the old girl let us know first. There is any number of good homes for it here on the
list. :-) Cheers,

Charlie

Greetings -

Just joined the list. I have a Moto Guzzi V7, frame #2062
stamped by hand into the headstock. Bought this bike
from my riding buddy's widow in about '73 after his untimely
demise. The bike is registered as a '68. Wife and I did
many wonderful miles in the saddle of this old gem before
the kids came along.

Time has come to decide if this old friend is a restoration
project or a yard sale item. (The bike I mean, not the wife :)
Thought that joining a discussion group might help with the
decision.

Cheers,
Bob
