Hey Bob,

When I first got my Ambo, it had a Bosch regulator on it, which is
incompatible with the Marelli generator. I took it to a good shop and the
tech tested the generator, and then they sold me a regulator that was for a
'65 Ford, for $10. It was identical to the regulator as shown in the
Loopframe repair manual. It worked for a while then my system went out, but
it was the generator. I since had Mark, at MG Classics rewire most of it,
and he put on a good generator and regulator.
The same tech just rebuilt my starter. I will see what he gets for them, and
what they are in other places. I think thhis is mentioned in the Tips book,
too.

Current wisdom has it that you need the Marelli regulator, or a Lucas. Even
the Lucas was only about $35 dollars, last time I checked.
