Paul,
Dry as a bone. First thing I checked. Checked the points while I was =
at it, and they were in spec. I may take Eric's suggestion and spray it =
with WD40 just for an additional precaution, but the distributor was =
clearly dry, as were the spark plug caps. I thought it was likely a =
moisture issue too, but none to be found. While there could certainly =
be moisture tucked into some spark plug or coil cap, it has been weeks =
since this bike was washed, and it has been in a dry, climate controlled =
garage ever since. =20

sounds like a moisture issue to me. How does the inside of the cap and =

Eldo won't run right. Here's what I know. Rode the Eldo round trip =
to and from the Western NY Rally. Ran perfectly, not so much as a =
hiccup. Got it home and washed it good of those pesky Western New York =
bugs. Used S100 and a hose as I have done often in the past. Polished =
it and parked it. Because of family obligations, and a need to ride =
some of my other bikes, the Eldo sat til tonight. It was difficult to =
start. Unusual. Rode off, and it didn't want to idle at stop =
signs/traffic lights, etc. Rode it for mebbe 15 minutes. Would stall =
if rpm weren't kept at 2,500 or more. Engaging the clutch resulted in =
feeble performance. Lots of slippage of the clutch to keep it from =
stalling. Would run rough and bike would shake until I gave it lots of =
throttle and got rpms up. Would then clean up and run strongly to =
redline, but returning to below 4,000 rpm would start the symptoms all =
over again.

I am getting spark at the plugs. The spark plug wires & caps are =
dry and firmly attached. Ditto coil. Gas in the tank. Checked float =
bowls. Carbs are getting gasoline. Points adjusted properly. Checked =
the airbox, and even ran it without the airbox. Same result.

Other than the bike wash, the bike was running PERFECTLY, and had =
run perfectly for 800 miles, before I parked it.

Any suggestions, other than to never wash the bike again?
