Hi Ed,

Doesn't the oil pressure light cone on when the pressure in the case drops?
I'm not sure why the light would go on if it was hot.

Question. Would the idle light go off when you raise the rpm of the bike
slightly...as like the generator light would come on a low rpm and then go
off as you raised the rpm?

If I was you I would check this out before going too much further. My bet is
that the problem could be in the idiot light but to be on the safe side I
would make sure that the bike has the right amount of oil in the case and be
sure that your oil pump is working. I have heard of people that had the oil
channels get blocked only to loose their top end.

Let us know what you find out...Ian

Subject: Oil pressure

Hi all. I'm pretty new here so please bare with me if I'm asking
questions that have been discussed recently. I'm running 20W-50 Castrol
in my '73 Eldo. I was riding about 70+ down the highway yesterday in
nearly 90 temp. When I got home and idled the bike down (idle is set
pretty low) the oil pressure light would come on. Is this normal for a
well used bike? This is the first time the oil pressure light has come
on while running, I'm sure it's the hottest/hardest I've run the engine.
Thanks in advance. Ed Dyvig.
