I just joined the list and saw sumptin bout introducing myself.

I'm in Delaware, USA. A couple of weekends ago, I yanked my 73 Eldo frame
out of the corner of the garage, sandblasted and painted it. Next...the
boxes of 73 Eldo.

I stripped the bike down about 16 years ago to paint. The guy who was
painting all the body parts had em for around 6 months.

In the meantime I ended up buying a 74 or 75 (I fergit) Police 1000. So I
didn't have the incentive to put the Eldo back together. It had the
automatic tranny and was a dog! I couldn't believe how slow it was off the
line and it ate lots of gas to boot! It later developed charging problems
that I couldn't trace...and a guy wanted to buy it so....it was gone.

Now I have to inventory what I have and what I need... see if the motor can
be turned...and start slappin thangs together. The thing ran pretty good
before I got my grubby hands on it.

There was one thing....anyone ever hear of a tranny that would jump into
gear when the bike was jolted? It happened to me twice with this Eldo.
When I jumped on it jumped into gear and stalled one day. People all say I
musta hit the shifter, but I know I didn't.

The other time, I was giving the bike a going over and decided to rebuild
the carbs. When I put them back on, I couldn't get the idle below 2k. I
sprayed crap lookin for a vacuum leak and got no response....I figured maybe
I'd take it round the block and perhaps something would unstick. It did the
gear jump when I got on...cept it didn't stall at 2k rpm. It launched
through the garage door. Gosh ...I love dat bike.
