Well I got up early this morning and pulled the start and stripped it down
and cleaned everything again. I also pulled the solenoid apart and found the
problem. The contacts inside were all covered in carbon buildup. I guess
this can be expected from something that is probably 32 years old. Lubed
things up, cleaned contacts to make them nice and shiny again and put
everything back together. Connected wires and hit the go button and she
fired right up with NO hesitation and NO smoke!! Let her get warm and shut
her down, waited a bit and she fired right up again. I am so happy now. Now
this weekend can be filled with riding and not wrenching!!!!
