Tim,

Overall the cost will be a bit higher to rechrome, provided you find a
chrome shop that will charge you a realistic price to do the job. The
big difference will be that the rechromed stuff from a reputable shop
will be "show quality", while the repro stuff will be "production
quality". There IS a difference. I have both kinds of parts on my bike
and although most folks don't notice, if you were to ask them to
identify the higher quality chrome plating the replated stuff would win
every time. Ultimately you have to make the decision to stick with good
or go with great.
