The part plea:
Yesterday I saw Jimmy H. He's a buddy of mine and a genuine good head. He
fueled my passions for Guzzis in general and loops in particular with his
enthusiasm for the breed. one of his bikes, a black 1100 sport is featured
in "MOto Guzzi Big Twins"

a few years ago, a van pulled an illegal maneuver and Jimmy ended up pushing
the van for several feet with his eldorado. FInally all the legal crap has
been handled and Jimmy can now begin fixing his Eldo.

I asked him what he needed so I could put out a list to the list. (he's not
a computer dude) he only needs one thing. A civilian ambassador single guage
dash.

Give me a holler if you have a good one or one that can be worked with
(cracks or whatever)

The LeMans:
2 years ago I got a new job. FInally a job that paid well. To celebrate, I
went to buy a new bike. Some fun and reliable transport to keep me going to
work all year and playing in the summer while I rebuilt all my abused older
bikes.

I had always wanted the Guzzi 1100 sport. In black. It was the only "sport"
bike that fit me. I'm 6'5" 230 and it was like the bike is made for me. The
reach was just right, legs fine. Heck I could even reach the sidestand where
others couldn't. BUt by the time I went shopping, the new V11 Sport was out
and the 1100 SPort was discontinued. %$#@! I wanted the full bodywork of the
1100 sport, dammit. So I hung my head and resigned myself to another bike. I
went and got a '99 VTR. It's a great bike and I love riding it. but it don't
make me drool like a guzz. So late last winter, I saw a magni fairing on a
v11 SPort. I damn near kicked it over. That was what I wanted when I went
looking. Damn. Then a week ago I find out about the LeMans. That is EXACTLY
what I wanted. Now I'm so pissed, I could go blow up the factory. 'cause I
went and did the friggin responsible thing and bought a house for my family
to live in. last time I ever do anything like THAT, I tell you. Anyhow. They
uncrated a red and grey lemans at Moto I yesterday. I didn't ride it. I
didn't dare. I did sit on it and get a feel for the ergos.

it's friggin perfect.

Thsi is the first faired sport bike that I don't need to do anything to. the
windscreen is up high enough that a big ol lump like me can see the gauges
without duking. The mirrors are pretty good for a sport bike. The seat is
wide and the pegs are low enough that I don't have my heels jammed up my
ass. The bars are wide and high enough that is is easy to support myself
with my back and stomach rather than lean on my wrists. the only two things
I'd change is the black paint on the motor and final drive. (it's rough as
hell. wich means difficult to clean) and slip on some less restrictive cans
so I can hear the exhaust note.

*sigh*

maybe next year.
