It seems the electrical parts can be the most problematic with these ol
gals. I replaced many terminals and the switchgear and added relays before
it went on the road. For the rest I have been lucky and have had problems
only due to old age and lack of earlier maintenance in my first 1200 miles
of riding the Ambo.
Also I have to say I bought it with the expectation of having to sort out
the gremlins. Gives me chance to get acquainted with the machine. But if I
spent what Paul did I would expect a good running and reliable machine, but
if I had ongoing problems, I would feel pretty bummed out about the marque
too.

I dont know Harpers other than buying something thru mail order and a guy
named Steve helped me trouble shoot something over the phone once, but I
would expect them to try to work with you in correcting on going problems
like this.
Selling something completely reconditioned implies its up to its designed
performance.
It does not sound like it is.
Sorry about your on-going problems, Paul. ........Did you ever talk to Bob
Hawkes??????
He's earned a purple (Guzzi) heart.

Anyway, good luck in sorting it out.
Pete

Every one talks about the wonderful Moto Guzzi and it's indestructable
motor ..But what about the rest of the bike ?

I am used to my old R90/6 , just put gas and go. Just like a car . Last
year I traded it in on a "total restored " eldorado from Harpers, and
that was the begining of constant problems ..no not the motor but all
the rest .....Just like an old british bike. Does anyone on this page
actualy have a reliable loopframe that is sutable for touring? Me I
have just about had enof... next year I will ride insted of fixing
..anyone want to swap a BMW for an eldo??
