Just remember, the spark occurs at the instant the points OPEN UP, not when
they close and connect. The closing and connecting builds the inductive
charge in the coil system. When the points crack open, the primary 12v field
collapses catastrophically and sets off an immense discharge in the secondary
spark circuit.
