This is one of those things hwere you get what you pay for. SOrta.

I have some motoport pants. 30$ and the roll up right into the tool bag. I
can slip 'em on under the chaps and keep my nads nice and dry.

But since I ride year round and we get a little bit of rain here (Seattle) I
went and splurged after years of leathers and bandannas, on a first gear
jacket and pants. oh so nice. the pants are a bit too heavy for summer wear,
but they kept me warm and dry on 30-ish degree wet mornings. No need for
long jons. The jacket is the best. totally dry. very warm and the liner zips
out and there are vents galor making it a nice summer jacket as well.

cost was about 500. and it has been well worth it.

 HEY!
I'm not skinny enough to dodge the raindrops anymore. Having gone though
a zillion and one pairs of raingear, and tried everything from the $15
sets from the army surplus to the $100. sets(that were the worst) I
thought I'd ask you guys what you've found to work. I really don't think
a guy should have to spend more than $100 on a set, but maybe I'm wrong,
maybe the $5000. set will last ya think?
