I have bates bags, the ones with the bulge on the bike side. I had to
make mounts for them, incorperating a luggage rack and rear crash (?)
bars. These were put on a Cal 2. Works pretty good, some weldong
involved. Can be removed with three bolts. If your interested e-mail is

Thanks for the reply Gary. I did not mention that I have the police
style
chrome rack that mounts the Bates police bags but the Interstate
series is a
little different shape and they won't sit flush on the police bag
without
suspending the front end of the bag somehow on the shock/passenger
grab rail
bolt so I think that this "device"is all I need. I haven't been able
to find
such an item in the basic hardware stores so I am sure that
fabrication is
the only choice. I will let you all know what I find out if I get
some pics.
Thanks again:

I gave Tom Bowes a pair of Bates Interstate bags last week. The
bags I
gave him were from my '74 Eldo . He may be able to send you pics
and or
sketches so you can fabricate a duplicate set.
Tom went to the New York rally this weekend he should be back on
Sunday(If Cedar runs OK this time :-) )

Anyone know if there is a product currently avaliable that will
mount a

pair of Bates Interstate saddlebags to an Eldo. I have seen
several

 bikes
that have them mounted on Loopframes in years past. The
Interstate

 series
were the ones that had the chrome guard rails wrapped around
them so if

anyone can give any advice I would be greatfull since I have a
pair

gathering dust that came from an old Norton.
