Hey Rich,

Happy belated birthday! Glad to hear your enjoying the Ambo. As for
me, this has been the most unpleasant purchase of an m/c I have ever
had. Not necessarily the bike, but the ordeal of getting it on the
road. I purchased this bike last July and still have yet to truly ride
her.

I got real friendly with my auto mechanic and have actually started
working for him on either Fridays when I'm off or Saturdays. Great
educational experience fixing cars, plus getting cash for the day. The
bike is still sitting in his shop, all dusted over, tank and sidecovers
are off, battery and tray is out, toolbox is also off. Nothing left to
do but figure out how to get that damn return spring back in without
popping out and being able to shift > 2nd gear, plus a fork oil change.
Not much to do, but having been working at the shop for the past 2
months, I understand why he hasn't had a chance to work on it. He is
busy beyond belief, outside of the normal bread and butter jobs (brakes,
tune-ups, exhausts, etc..) he has 7, yes 7 engine replacements to do!
We're talking several thousand dollars a pop, so when it comes to that
or working on my bike, which he is not going to charge me for since we
are now friends, (though I will pay him for the generator rebuild and
probably give him a free day of work), the engine jobs win everytime.
He has planned many times to finish the bike, then something pops up
that draws him back to auto work. It's been so frustrating that I have
just washed my mind of actually owning it. Have even thought of just
putting it back together and selling it with the return spring left to
be re-installed, but I would need to try to recoup my total investment
of at least $4K, would try to sell locally or e-bay it. But, I would
like to at least ride it once it is fixed and allow myself to fall in
lust/love with her since I never had the chance to be romanced by her.
Time will tell, how long it will be I have no idea.

Thanx for remembering me though!!

Keith, I haven't seen a report lately. Is that shift return spring
in and working?
Loopframe content: It was my 47th birthday yesterday and I took the day
off.
Spent the day engulfed in Motorcycling. I took the Alazzurra for some
canyon
carving and breakfast in the Santa Cruz mountains in the morning. It's
so
nice to be able to go on a weekday as I refuse to go there on weekends
when
the squidly types are practicing crash techniques. Then took the one
running
CT90 out for a spin down to the local burrito shop for lunch. In the
afternoon I headed down the coast to one of my favorite beaches on the
Ambassador for a walk and got back home just in time to avoid the rain
and
watch a spectacular lightning/thunder show with my wife and daughter put
on
by mother nature. Had some homemade cobbler for dessert and played my
new
guitar (birthday present) for a while. All in all a great day, one that
makes one thankful for everything we have.
Wishing everyone on the list one (a lot) of those days,
Rich
